Eyele Yetunde...
the mystical "Water Woman," proudly continues the traditions
of her African ancestry by reminding audiences that WOMEN first owned
and played the drum. She encourages women in workshops and drum circles
to connect the drum's power with one's individual spiritual power. You

Atsuko Yamano...
plays drums and sings for "the most famous Japanese
rock band in the world," Shonen Knife. They may be cutesy, but these women

Amy Yoder...
started drumming recently, after playing trumpet in the University of
Delaware Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band. She currently plays gaelic snare,
rhythm tenor side drum, and occasionally bass drum with the Pipes
& Drums of the Delaware Valley, based in Wilmington DE.
Erika York... hasn't been in any
bands yet but she's on 15 years of age. She played in her school marching
band this year and she also played the Marimba in the percussion pit.

Melissa York... is
one third of the explosive North Carolina-based power-punk trio The
Butchies. The Butchies collaborated and toured with Indigo Girl
Amy Ray on her CD, "Stag". Before the Butchies, Melissa played with Jody
Bleyle (who's listed above) in Team Dresch as well as with former TD guitarist, Kaia. She also played
with NYC's Vitapup.
Chiyoko Yoshida... has played with several ladies on this list and eventually
became a drummer too. She has been playing drums for around 4.5 years
in the band Sweeder (in addition
to which she sings vocals along side Jeff Carleton) based out of Chicago.
She taught herself to play drums as therapy after fronting the band Squash
Blossom on guitar for 7 years (Trivia #1 - Kim Ambriz was the last of
a line of 8 drummers in this band and recorded their single silly / rainbow
circa 97 and is one of the lovely ladies on this list'. Trivia #2 Danni
Iosello, current drummer of Sin Ropas, formerly of Califone and many more
was the first drummer). Chiyoko currently plays in Sweeder and recently
released her debut solo CD under the name Chiyoko called "Cinematic" this
fall. (Trivia #3 - Alianna Kalaba current drummer for The Dishes - also on this list
- recorded 5 kick-ass drum tracks on Cinematic).
Harmony Young... plays marching band at school. In her first
year, Harmony played in the pit, specifically on Xylo and Marimba and
this year played snare! Marching as a drummer has been a blast and she
is looking forward to four more years!!
Raven Young... is playing for the sheer
fun of it in Seattle, Washington.
Riki Young... drums and does vocals
for the Texas band Godiva.
Yoshimi... Why people don't list their site on Yahoo! remains a mystery,
but after a lot of searching, we found a page about Yoshimi. And
if anyone knows Yoshimi's last name, please do tell us.
