  • Vanessa Salopek... has been drumming ever since she was in Grade 6. None knew she would be the type to drum, but when she sets up she sure can rock. She drummed the streets of Toronto as many people watched and then complimented her on her drumming skills. Vanessa is looking for band members to start a new band.   • Sarah... comes from Chesapeake, Virginia and play drumset in her school band, The Chesapeake Jubilee Pans.   • Patty Schemel... has the distinction of being the former drummer for Hole. Why she no longer does seems to depend on whom you ask. Wondering what she's up to now?   • Cindy Schlicht... is 32 years old and hails from Minneapolis MN. Cindy has been playing some 20 odd years, mostly play jazz and dixieland, and she is also a show drummer. Recently Cindy returned from doing a national tour with the touring company Troupe America doing a musical version of the Dickens tale "A Christmas Carol". In addition to drums, Cindy also plays a mean washboard with a dixie group called the Mouldy Figs, piano, mountain dulcimer, and she sings. Cindy belongs to a womens singing organization called Sweet Adelines International, which is an organization dedicated to educating women in the art of 4 part harmony singing barbershop style.   • Jennifer Schmidt-Gregson... is a single mom, 5th grade science teacher, and still makes time to play drums for Liberty Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio. She has been playing since the age of 10, and has been a part of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra in Indianapolis.

  • Rhea L. Sewell... is a self-taught player who has been playing since she was 20 - she's now 31! Rhea played formerly with 1/2 Mad Poet, an all female trio and currently plays with two other men in 7/8 Quick. They're a hard rockin' trio from Wichita Kansas.   • Kristen Shiner McGuire... is the first woman elected to the international Percussive Arts Society Executive Committee. She also heads up PAS' New York State chapter and is listed in Who's Who of American Women. She currently plays lead pan for the Pan Gaia Steel Band.

  • Eilidh Short... lives in Glasgow, Scotland and recently formed a band called "Lashes" with Lee, Michelle and Monika. She says, "We're gonna be big." Email.

  • Katie Short... lives and plays in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is 16 years old and plays for a band called "Feature Presentation ". Katie is the only girl in the band and it has always been that way.   • Dana Sixty... formerly from Ottawa, she currently plays with Toronto punk band, The Inner City Four. Previously, she's bashed out tunes for The Spazmz, The Ethyl Mormons, The Nina Hagen-Daas, Boomshanka and The Muse. Dana started out playing at the age of 12 on a kit composed of an overturned diaper pail, pots and pans. (Equipment has improved since then.) Latina lso writes music, sings and produces and is presently preparing to begin laying tracks for a CD within at Omega Studios in MD.

  • Michaela Smith... is an avid percussionist from Moore, Oklahoma. Her band experience is with the Moore High School Marching Band (26th at BOA Nationals in '99 and hope to be in the top 30 this year).   • Tia Sprocket... has played with Sexpod, Raging Slab, Luscious Jackson (during the Lilith Fair tour) and Lucid Nation on their DNA and Suburban Legends CDs. She's working on her first solo CD.

  • Rainy-Maple Stanford... plays with Turn and Cough, The Missing Peace, id. She says, "I use a DW 000 double bass and my Pork Pie snare is my child." Email.

  • Melary Stanko... has played with the Greensburg Salem High School Marching Band for 4 years. She played the flute the first year, then switched over to drums. She got a lot of help from Mr. Rosatti and especially Brian "Little B" Coiner. In her senior year of HS she finally got to play the snare.   • Christine Stevens... is certainly a big influence on drummers, and facilitates drum circles all over the world. She's a multi instrumentalist with a big focus on drums.   • Laurie Stewart... has been swinging the sticks since the 80's and is still causing major ruckus at the ripe old age of 22. She has been working as a session player for various acts in her home town of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Recording and other projects have proven effective in honing her skills and she has lent her name to some amazing musical acts. Laurie's album is set for release sometime in 2005.

  • Vicci Stewart...Texan's will remember her drumming with the band Jane Doe, who she was with for years. Opportunity knocked and she then moved out to Los Angeles to join up with Smelly Roses, an all-girl band that rocked LA.   • Fillie Stomps... hails from Northport, AL. My favorite thing in the world is to play my drums and at school she is known as the "band queen" because she does everything possible in music to help her get a full schorlarship to a college. Not the only girl drummer in my family, Fillie's second oldest sister Kelly was a drummer and is now a music teacher. When Fillie saw Kelly play in the LSU drumline she knew right away that she wanted to be just like her. She started taking private lessons from the UA School of Music in 2000 and now takes private lessons five days a week with Larry Mathis on mallets and timpani, Mark Lanter on set, Andy Martin on marching band, and oboe with Eric Larson. Fillie says that music is her world, her life, her passion, and love and she works hard to perfect her playing.

  • Miriam Storz... lives in Germany and drums for thrash-metal band Nuclear Warfare. Miriam loves playing the drums, especially playing live.

  • Sarah "Saturn" Stow... from Cambridge, UK, has been drumming for eight years and is the veteran of as many bands. She currently has three on the go: Pretty Vacant, girl-powered rockers, Skelliga, far out trip goth hillbillies, and easy-listening sixties popstrels the Darts Club. Keith Moon, Brian Downey [Thin Lizzy], Jon Bonham and Nicko McBrain are among her many influences, and one of her (many) non-drumming talents is being able to eat 24 Cadbury's cream eggs in 3 days!

  • Elizabeth Stuart... lives in San Francisco and plays Middle Eastern hand percussion (and sings) in world, Jewish and Arabic groups including Vocolot and Tahneen, "The all-girl, all-American, Middle Eastern band." She also drums, sings and composes for modern dance productions and avant-garde improv events. (She used to play keyboards in rock and jazz bands, but has been primarily a drummer girl for 7 years now!)

  • Shelly Sullivan... from South Florida started playing drums 1-1/2 years ago at age 54 and she says, "Best thing I could have done!"

  • Chanel Summers... (aka "Jade") is the co-founder and drummer for the Seattle, WA band, Missionary. Missionary makes a conscious attempt to evolve away from simple, raw, fiery garage sounds and in the process turns conventions inside out, melding punk and indie guitar rock, classic pop, funk, and stadium-sized riffs with evocative lyrics, jagged, roaring guitars, and melodic pop hooks. Chanel's drumming influences include Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver), Tre' Cool (Green Day), Chad Smith (The Red Hot Chili Peppers), Jabo Starks & Clyde Stubblefield (James Brown), Steve Ferrone, Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp & countless others), and Fab Moretti (The Strokes).   • Natalie Surry... is a 17 year old who has been rocking the kit since age 11 and is the drummer for Brighton, UK-based female fronted metal band Accolade. They have been together since November '04 and are currently gigging, gathering fans around Brighton, and rocking out in a downtown studio every week. Natalie attends the BRIT school for performing arts and intends to make a name for herself as a hard rocking drummer!
