  • Laura MacFarlane... used to drum for Sleater-Kinney. She now drums a bit for 99 and with Trixies Undersea Adventure, an accordian based band featuring nicole hurtabise from the canadian band Ersatz.

  • Mighty Machell... of Free Verse, the all girl hardcore band that moved from Lawrence Kansas to Seattle. Seattle Weekly called them "the band to see when Sleater Kinney is on vacation."

  • Tina Machina... is the fierce-as-hell stick woman from Lipkandy and formerly from the punk rock two-piece Red Hot Secret. Check her out also at Heart Core Records. Melissa from Likandy says, "Tina's our punk rock dream come true!"

  • Tammi Mackey... is a 17 year old junior at Indian Valley High School in Gnadenhutten, Ohio. Tammi is a member of her high school band and has aspirations to play in a rock band in the future. Although life with the eight male members of Tammi's band has not always been easy, her hard work and dedication has made her a leader to them on and off the field. Throughout the past two years Tammi has grown as a drummer and person and she has refused to quit, even during the really difficult times.

  • Jeannine Maddox-Voegele... is a solo marimbist/percussionist. She also plays the timpani, vibes, and panflute, just to name a few.

  • Lisa Maestas... was the lead singer/percussionist of Maggiejack, based in Denver, CO. She was also the lead singer for the band NUM, a kbpi reality radio band, and was the the lead singer and drummer for MAGGIE GOT JACKED and hard rock band Endangered.   • Valentina Magaletti... was born in Italy and now lives in London. She has been playing drums for more than 10 years and works as a drum teacher at three schools in London. She studied Jazz drumming and has played in different music projects from hard bop to hip-hop. Valentina moved to London four years ago to join an emo-core/indie band called Econoline.   • Sarah Mahaffey... is 16 years old and is in an all guy band now called Leverege...but hopefully soon an all girl band similar to blink 182.

  • Samantha Maloney... went from playing with NY's Shift to taking Patty Schemel's place as Hole's drummer. You can catch her in their video for "Celebrity Skin." Talk about shifting into high gear.

  • Angie Manly... is currently in the punk band Broadzilla out of Detroit, Michigan. Past credits include playing with Tush, Rapunzel, and Beggar's Opera.

  • Kelly Maness... is part of the all-girl teen rock band known as WHAT.

  • Alexis Mantis... is currently not in a band but is looking for one. She likes punk, alternative and even oldies music. In addition to drumset, Lexi also plays concert percussion.

  • Margaret... lives in Newburgh, NY and has been playing the drums on and off since she was 15. She just got her first 5-piece Pearl kit this past Christmas at the age of 30.   • Sherrie Maricle... was passed on to us by Lois from Jazz Corner, and my God, why haven't we heard of her sooner? Among many, many things, Sherrie leads Diva, an all-female big band. Take it from this big band/swing enthusiast, there has never been a woman in a big band before (except for that lady with the pink feathers who sang, backed up by a bunch of old white men).

  • Katie Marie... hails from the UK. She does session and deep work and plays in a local band called Cold Feet. Check out her site.

  • Emily Marsh... played drums for Seattle indie rockers Faster Tiger and is now drumming for Black Cat Orchestra and sometimes The Kwabs (a Kinks cover band).

  • Marge Marshall...used to play for the now-defunct Slant 6 out of Olympia, Washington. But you can still find their website at Southern Records.

  • Jo Martin... is a 26 year old drummer from Leicester in the UK. Jo plays drums for Findley Webster - an awesome original rock band, fronted by a feisty female sex-bomb! They have been together for over a year now and you'll soon be seeing them everywhere!

  • Marnie Martin... currently plays in a band in Portland, Oregon, called Longshot. Marnie has been pounding away for years with dozens of live performances under her belt, doing studio work, several cd's,a few cd compilations, a song for ESPN's X- Games, several national tours, and most recently, a Vic Firth drumstick endorsement.   • Nicole A. Martin... has been playing the drums in church for 15 years and she's pretty good. Her style of music is strictly gospel but she also incorporates some calypso and jazz beats into her drumming. Email.

  • Adrianna Martinez... has been playing drums for a year and fell in love. She listens to any kind of rock music from punk to metal to indie. She also plays in a youth group at her church. She plays the guitar, bass, and sax as well.

  • Cristal Martinez... belongs to a Christian/Catholic band called Journey and the Tribe of Judah. The very first time she played drums, they were set up in her garage c/o some fellow youth ministers and she sat down and started playing. Two months later she was in a recording studio doing a demo CD with Ed Ivey (a producer from SF).   • JoAnn Martone-Pipes... has been drumming for over 30 years, beginning her career before it was easy being a female drummer.   • Kayla Mashburn... lives in Georgia. Growing up in a musical family it is only natural that Kayla should be drumming at only 13 years of age. And she's been at it for 2 years already!

  • Sheila Denise McCarthy... has been a percussionist since she was eight-years-old and has played all over the country with the likes of CattleProd, Bombazine, and Autobody. Her latest project is Drumhead, on the Perishable record label.

  • Jeryl McComas... plays for Ohio's Windfire.

  • Kim (Rock) McCrady... has been a professional drummer for 30 years. She began playing at age 3 and started professionally in her parents' country band at age 12. She has played with Conway Twitty and Stonewall Jackson on the Grand Ole Opry. Kim received extensive musical training during College in percussion and 2 years drum & bugle corps. Most recently she has played 5 nights a week for 2 years with "Soul Renuion", a local Motown and soul band in St. Louis.   • Amy McDonald... of Eighty Katie, rocks the town of Memphis, Tennessee.

  • Linda McDonald... is currently playing with Phantom Blue and The Iron Maidens, an all female tribute to Iron Maiden. Linda is also recording instrumental music with PUA and Carina Alfie. She scooped Best Female Drummer at the Rock City News Awards and also took home the award for Best Performance of Drums/Percussion at the LA Music Awards. Email.

  • Kelly McElwain... is 19 years of age and lives in Bakersfield, CA. Kelly is a major contributor to Jane Friday, an all-girl pop/rock band she does the website for. For the past three and a half years, Kally has been playing with Jane Friday and before that she played with the drumline and drumcorps at highschool. Email.

  • Ellen McGuyer... drummer for the Piper Downs is a badass. She beats the hell out of the kit, wears hot pink pigtails and usually flashes her bra at gigs. The Piper Downs play mainly around LA so check them out if you have the chance.

  • Hannah Mckay... taught herself to play the drums and she currently plays in a Falkirk-based band called Twitch with Caroline Thomson, Mellisa Maitland and Evonne Little. Email.

  • Annelie McKenzie... plays in an all-girl band called The Sadderdays. They play hard punk/pop/rock original music. Annelie is originally from Canada and now lives in Los Angeles, California.

  • Paloma McLardy... of the Slits and the Raincoats. Palmolive (as she is known to most folks) is drumming again with her band, Hi-Fi, and has her own web page.

  • Meaghan McLaughlin... is a Boston rock artist, a solo artist (and guitarist) who is now also playing drums with Cheater Pint. Meaghan's new CD is at Press Records (free MP3s). Another track, "This Drunk's Lament," is at www.shawnmclaughlin.com.

  • Melanie McMurrin... lives in Iowa and has played drums since the 7th grade. Her parents bought her a Rogers kit (they don't make them anymore) as her first drumset and she still has it. Melanie played in a jazz band in high school but didn't play through college. She now plays in her contemporary Christian chuch band and would love to play more.

  • Racheal McNally... is in New York City's Sleepyhead.

  • Rose Melberg... of Tiger Trap, Softies and Go Sailor fame is also stickmistress for the "reigning pop queens of Vancouver," Gaze.

  • Heather Melowic... played with the late, great, No Wave band, The Scissor Girls.

  • Kim Milai... is a rock/pop drummer who has played with various NY bands that have opened for the likes of the B52's, Live, Matthew Sweet, Cyndi Lauper, Marianne Faithful, and Living Colour. On her website, you can check out her CD, which features music for young children.

  • Liz Miller... plays in the all-girl band Fortress from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

  • Abby Mikelsen... drums for Australia's Flat Earth. There's another band with that name (and a corresponding website), but that's not them. Abby's band may be in the process of changing their name. If so, we'll let you know.

  • Max Miller... is known for her style, precision and dexterity. She hits maximum overdrive with the international touring act The California Girls. She "looks like a Barbie...but sounds like Ken..." Among other talented artists, Max plays with "tch" and CindyAlter and some of the kooler latin jazz musicians in swell L.A.

  • Lexa Mink-Flacco... is only four-years-old and already signed up for the Zildjian Player's Network. She does not have a website, but maybe after she masters the drums she can turn to HTML.

  • Katrina Mitchell... is one-third of Glasgow's "truly futuristic" The Pastels , "one of the UK's most influential lo-fi pop groups."

  • M'liss... drums for Portland, OR band Plaid Sheep. "We're not the black sheep, we're a little different, so we're the plaid sheep." They play SLUDGE ROCK! Email.

  • Terri Moeller... has drummed with and sung for The Walkabouts for 8 years. She now has her own thing under the name The Transmissionary Six where she writes sings and plays drums.

  • Tracy Moll... is 25, has been drumming for three years and currently plays with SiSSy, a 21st Century glam rock band and Cockblock, a garage/punk rock band. Tracy had the Moden Drummer Magazine kit of the month in Feb '03. Email.

  • Gina Montel... is a kick a$$ drummer who played with the Fullerton Jr. College
    Big Band for two years where she earned her music degree with honors. She's all that jazz and so much more!   • Karen Monty... is half of Albuquerque, New Mexico's contemporary folk duo UnI.

  • Dawn Moore... is currently drumming for NYC edge band Loki the Grump.

  • Ikue Mori...We hear Ikue Mori has been a fixture on the New York music scene since 1979, playing for bands like DNA, Worlds of Love, and Death Ambient.

  • DeeDee Morin... played with one of the first punk rock bands in Portland, OR in 1978, The Products, with Mike X King and Dave Power Propp. Since then DeeDee has played with many bands in Oregon and California. She currently plays with Hot Carl in Portland, OR and RayGunn Live in Troutdale, OR. Past bands include The Products, Red Products, Mystery Radio Pulse, Full Bores, Flyte 50/50 (Portland, OR) and Animal Things, Wildnixons, G.O.D., The Worst and Joy of Six (San Francisco, CA). Email.

She is completely inspiring to any drummer who feels constricted by the conventions of rock drumming.

  • Bethany Mossburg... is a drummer girl who is 15 and lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is currently not involved with a band, although she misses it. She now helps out at her local youth group singing and doing all that she can. Email.
