The first thing I noticed when this cover arrived was the fact that it was large. It appeared as though it could fit any sized throne that exists out there. I pulled out my thin throne (3” tall and about a foot wide) and slapped it on. It was really easy to “install”—you just fit it over the top and pull on the drawstring until there is a tight fit. It was too big for the small seat so I got out a bigger throne (4 1/2” tall and about a foot wide) and put it on. It fit like a charm. I believe it would also be big enough to accommodate a motorcycle throne, also.

The tag line “Feel the beat…not your bottom” kind of made me laugh before I hopped on to give it a try. After playing for a few minutes, I realized that it does kind of hold you in place. Beginner thrones are typically cheaper thrones made of vinyl and there is a tendency to slide a little, so the throne cover definitely helps.

It doesn’t really affect your playing, it just makes you feel snug against the seat. It’s made of a furry-type material that you could buy in many stores. It’s funky looking, in a kitschy way, of course. The one I tried out was a tiger-style print with blue shadowing—not really my style, but I can see how someone else might dig it.

The website www.drumbum.com sells the covers; there are six different styles shown, but only two that are currently available for purchase. They retail for $19.95 on the site. It’s a decent price, but if you’re sewing-able you could make one of your own for cheaper. They are fun to look at and comfy to play on but by no means a necessity. It’s something you may want to think about buying if you have the extra money lying around and you really want to draw attention to your butt. Check out the other cool stuff at drumbum.com while you're there.

“I have a cover very much like the cow print one. A girlfriend made it for me out of 'polar fleece'. It works great. You don't get that 'drawing' feeling from the bare vinyl when ya sweat or the 'slipping' around....I'd recommend them.” -- Clockwork Orange

“Great idea, I agree with you ClockworkOrange...” -- Black Diamond
